Bitton Ladies History
Bitton Ladies were formed at the start of the 2007/2008 season with a mix of local girls wanting to keep fit and some younger girls looking for there first club in senior football. They joined the Gloucestershire County Womens Division 2 and appointed Steve Jones as Manager. They were quickly to learn some harsh lessons as they suffered heavy defeats in the opening few weeks of the season including 13-0 & 10-0 defeats. Results steadily improved over the season and they finished on a high with some positive results against the top sides in the division. They ended there first season in 5th position
Bitton also enjoyed limited success in the annual six a side competition beating several Division 1 sides and only losing out in the semi final by the odd goal to eventual Division 1 winners Oldland Abbotonians.
The 2008/2009 season saw the Ladies enter the Womens FA Cup for the first time and after a promising start they faded away to finish the season poorly once again ending up in 5th place. With the addition of several new faces over the summer Bitton Ladies would looking to improve on the previous seasons finish and challenge for honours the following year.
After 2 years of struggle the 2009/10 season saw Bitton produce an incredible season winning the Divison 2 title and reaching the league cup final only losing narrowly to Swindon supermarine. Sharifa James was named the leagues top scorer after hitting an incredible 37 goals.Bitton also reached the semi final of the league 5 aside competition again losing out by the odd goal to eventual winners Swindon Supermarine.
Now in Division 1 of the County league Bitton made a promising start to the 2010/11 season but faded away as they lost several players to pregnancy and long term injuries and as a result struggled to raise a side on a few occasions meaning they eventually finished the season in 4th position. They saved some of their best performances for the league cup however and once again managed to get to the final despite playing the quarters and semi with only 10 players. Unfortunately they lost the final 2-1 to a good St Nicholas side.
2012/13 was the most succesfull in the clubs history. Now under the management of Paul Passaway they blitzed there way through the league to be crowned champions and also won the league cup. Bitton were promoted to the South west womens league. After a 8 year break Bitton are now make for the 22/23 season as they enter the Gloucester County womens league div 1.
