Bitton 6-0 Bishops Lydeard
Bitton played their first ever home game in the higher division and turned on the style with a terrific performance to hammer home six goals without reply against previously unbeaten Bishops Lydeard.
Lydeard showed they are a very capable team today and have a good young side who pass the ball very well but Bitton would have been a match for most sides on todays showing and the excellent Lydeard keeper made several outsanding saves to keep the score to only six.
Bitton came flying out the traps and it was clear early on that the front two of Coates and Bloomer were hungry for goals as they put the away defence under pressure. The keeper made two great saves very early on when rushing at the feet of Bloomer and Bitton tried a couple of efforts that went wide before they took a 10th minute lead. Coates picked up the ball 20 yards out and with Bloomer in space and screaming for the ball she opted to shoot and the ball went like a rocket into the top corner for Coates first goal of the season. Bitton continued to press and started to play some of the neat tidy passing game we watched last year. The keeper made a fanstastic diving save to deny Bloomer but could do nothing to prevent last seasons top scorer opening this years account only moments later. Coates did superbly down the right and stood up a great cross into the middle where Bloomer was waiting and she expertly headed into the bottom corner for a two nil lead. After the quality of the first two goals it was going to take something special to beat that but flying winger Kylie Allen duly obliged as she made ground in the inside right position before sending a delightful lob over the stranded keeper with one of the most classy finished you are likely to see at any level. Bitton continued to press with the defence in top form and restrictiong Lydeard to only long range effforst and with Gallagher in the Bitton goal looking in top form we were never really tested. Ware and Jones were winning the midfield battle and keeping possesion well with simple passing using the full backs and wingers and Bitton did threaten a few more times but the Lydeard keeper was in top form and was covering her defence well to sweep up when it looked like Bloomer and Coates might be in.
After such a good performance first half it was going to be a challenge to maintain the high standards but Bitton continued their good work in the second period with some neat possesion play. Lydeard did try to force it and had a bit more of the ball but they could not break down the Bitton back line who were intent on shutting out the opposition for the third game in a row. Bitton made it four when Bloomer showed her pace and strength to out muscle a defender and slide the ball home and it was five moments later when the Lydeard defence appeared to stop claiming offside allowing Coates a free run on goal and she made no mistake by slotting past the keeper. With the result now settled the pace of the game did slow a bit and Price and S Morgan had to be on their guard a few times to prevent the away side breaking in on goal. Gallagher once again was commanding and dealt with a couple of long range efforts before Bitton went and grabbed a sixth and final goal as J Morgan cut in from the right and her left foot shot took a slight deflection and found it's way into the bottom corner
A Great all round team performance from Bitton with six good goal and yet another clean sheet.

FOD 0-1 Bitton
After the standard late arrival of players when we travel to forest Of dean Bitton came through a very tough game against FOD with the 3 points thanks to a great goal by Kylie Allen. After coming on as sub Allen picked the ball up on the right and weaved past several defenders before placing her shot past the excellent FOD keeper. In a fairly tight game Bitton were time and again frustrated by the linesmans flag and Becky Jones even had a goal dissalowed after the flag was raised. Both sides hit the woodwork and the game could of went either way, In the end it was settle by a piece of magic from Allen.
Good start to the season for Bitton with two wins from two.Very nice to have back to back cleansheets too

Poole 0-2 Bitton
Bitton started their first ever season in the SWWFl in superb style as a good team performance gave them a 2-0 win at poole and delivered the 3 points.
A long journey combined with it being bank holiday weekend meant Bitton could only travel with the bare 11 with Gallagher, Riley, Bloomer, Lester & L Jones all missing. The absence of keeeper Gallagher looked like being the big issue but after putting her hand up to volunteer new signing Jade Holcombe had a superb game between the sticks and secured a rare clean sheet for the Ton.
Poole are a very capable side and it was a fairly even game with both teams creating chances. Bitton were slightly more wastefull and will need to be more clinical as they adjust to the higher level.
Bittons first goal of the season came after 25 minutes and was scored by B Jones who followed up after Coates saw her shot saved and rifled the ball left foot into the top corner from the penalty spot. Bitton increased the lead on 30 mins as Doidge whipped in a corner from the left that evaded everyone and crept in at the near post. Allen in paticular could have increased Bittons advantage in the first half but the Poole keeper made some impressive saves.
Poole were on top most of the second half but and inspired performance from the Bitton defence and in paticular Price and Doidge kept them at bay
A good start and we look forward to next weeks game when we travel to Forest Of dean. hopefully a few players should be back by then
